Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area is comprised of over 600 acres of largely undisturbed habitat. The area features hiking and mountain biking trails, three ponds, a natural stream with a waterfall, two disc golf courses, cross country courses, the Elizabeth Sugden Broughton Community Building, picnic shelters, and grounds. The “Park” is managed and maintained by The Broughton Foundation.

The Elizabeth Sugden Broughton Community Building is the most convenient wedding and event venue in Marietta, Ohio. It is located on State Route 821 near the main entrance to The Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area. The building is designed for meetings, presentations, training, and social events.

Marietta Community Foundation was founded in 1974 and headed by the late Carl L. Broughton.

Marietta High School Rowing is based in the Carl L. Broughton Boathouse on the west bank of the Muskingum River. Tax-deductible gifts to the Carl L. Broughton Boathouse Endowment Fund are used to improve and maintain the Boathouse which is also used by the Harmar Rowing Club and the Marietta Rowing and Cycling Club.
