The Broughton Foundation, established by Carl and Elizabeth Broughton in 1991 to support local projects for local use and quality of life, and economic development.
Marietta Community Foundation was founded in 1974 and headed by the late Carl L. Broughton.
Marietta High School Rowing is based in the Carl L. Broughton Boathouse on the west bank of the Muskingum River. Tax-deductible gifts to the Carl L. Broughton Boathouse Endowment Fund are used to improve and maintain the Boathouse which is also used by the Harmar Rowing Club and the Marietta Rowing and Cycling Club.
